Elf Tone Correcting Powder

ELF - Pressed powder - Tone correcting powder - review - swatch
I saw on this on Pinterest as a dupe for Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder and Clinique Redness Solution instant relief mineral powder. I thought oooh this looks like a interesting product. Its a pressed powder with four different colours in the pan. The idea of the product is that you use the powder all over your face to leave you with a radiant and balanced complexion. It looks so pretty in the pan and I couldn't wait to use it.

Create a balanced and radiant complexion that is beautiful and healthy. The lightweight formula evens out the skin tone and absorbs excess oil. The sheer formula brightens, mattes and neutralises the skin.

The four different shades are there for different reason each adding something that collectively is meant to give you flawless skin tone.

-The blue shade is great for giving life to swallow dull looking skin.
-The green shade reduces any red tones in the skin.
-The yellow shade helps cover any areas of darkness like under the eyes.
-The pink shade adds a glow to the skin.

The mix of these colour correcting colours does help to even and correct the tone of your skin. Yet rather than transparent, its very pale and slightly chalky in colouring, on the skin. It would be much better suited to a really fair skinned lady. You could wear it on its if you use a light hand, with a dusting of bronzer over the top to add a bit of colour. Which I have done, However I am quite disappointed as I thought it would be a quick solution to colour correcting on the go. The only way I could make it work was to do exact colour correction using the colours individual.

Although not the perfect all over the face powder. I have found it is really good for setting my under eye concealer, giving me a really smooth and even finish. The powder is really good for oily skin as it absorbs excess oil brilliantly, however I just wish they sold this in a wider range of shades.

Overall It does correct the skin tone but only ever so slightly, as you have to use the product so lightly to stop the powder draining you of all colour. This is a really odd product as I do like it and it does work. I can't make my mind up about it.

If you want extreme colour correction your best bet is a colour correcting primer but if your like me and use a primer under your make up this is a really nice way to add an extra smoothness and airbrushed look to the skin. The powder was just to pale and if they added a more transparent version, or a range for specific skin colours, I would without doubt buy that.

Have you tried this? Which products do you use for colour correcting? What ELF products do you swear by? I think ELF can be really hit or miss, do you agree?
lots of love,
Laura x

  1. I have to say I haven't yet come across a product that I like from Elf. I want to love their products I really do but so far not so good. I tried this a little while back and wasn't so sure on it either, it felt nice on my skin but I couldn't see any difference. Do you have a fav product from Elf? x

  2. Oooh this is a really interesting product, I might have to look it up x

  8. Interesting product..
Can't say i've tried any products from Elf before, but I may have to try this..
I'm quite pale, so it may suit..

  9. It does look really chalky - what a shame! If it was totally transparent it would actually be really brilliant. However as I am incredibly pale I may still give this a try!
