#Flashmob Cosmetics

If you haven't heard of Flashmob cosmetics they are a new brand of make up focusing on the bright and bold colours which are all the rage this season. Brights and neons have been seen all over the catwalk and on the faces of models in magazines. This brand has made a collection of products that are bang on trend and perfect for festivals and the fun of summer these brights are a lot more wearable than they first appear.

I was extremely lucky to be sent lots of Flashmob goodies from the kind people from Markwins the creators of Flashmob and other well known brands such as Wet 'n' Wild.

The collection consists of nail varnish sets, eye shadows, liquid Eyeliner, lip glosses and lipsticks. As well as a range of stunning hair chalks.

Here's a quick peek at the products I have been sent!

First up we have these amazingly bright liquid eyeliners called Liquid Electricity

In this set you get four different shades of liquid eyeliner. All of the shades have subtle hints of glitter present. I love the bright packaging and the clear bottles so you can see how much product you have left.

Next we have these amazing hair chalks in Go Bold

These are one of two hair chalk packs available. This set you get a pink, orange and purple hair chalk which come in easy to apply and store compacts with the sponge included. The other set available has a bright yellow, green and blue included.

Lastly is the case of goodies The Power Generator in Danger zone

The cases are available in 5 different colours yellow, pink, purple, blue and green. Urban Decay Revolution lipstick in Liar

Urban Decay - Liar - lipstick - nude lipstick - timeless make up - swatch - review

Looking for the perfect grown up nude lipstick look no further! Liar is described as a Pinky brown nude, this is the perfect nude for those who want a timeless natural look.

Like the other lipsticks in the revolution range the formula is second to none. With a really hydrating formula that's long lasting. It's extremely lightweight considering how thick and creamy the formula is. The formula is probably one of my all time fave formulas of lipsticks and perfect for those of us with drier lips. Moisturising yet not clinging to any drier parts of the lips. It applies like a dream without any drag or pull and gives an opaque finish with one swipe.

Urban Decay - Liar - lipstick - nude lipstick - timeless make up - swatch - review
The shade is a warm brown based pink, which gives a like your lips but better look. If your not a fan of the paler nudes this is one for you. You wont have to worry at all about this shade giving you the concealer lip look or washing you out. As I said I think this is a really timeless shade that will last through all seasons. I also think it will be flattering to any age group.

Urban Decay - Liar - lipstick - nude lipstick - timeless make up - swatch - review

I can't get enough of this shade, I find myself reaching for it nearly every day. It's a must for any beauty lovers make up bag.

If your yet to try an Urban Decay Revolution lipstick I cant recommend them enough. The range offers highly pigmented shades with a creamy yet opaque finish.

Illamasqua Sculpting Powder Duo

Illamasqua - Sculpting powder duo - contouring - wet and dry - contour kit - highlighter - matte bronzer - swatch - review

I have always been a major fan of contouring, I love how it can totally transform your look. Contouring has been a part of my routine for a long time. Its amazing how much a difference it can make. I don't feel my make ups complete with out some definition to my cheeks and a sweeping of highlighter.

The highlighter is a beautiful shade of champagne that has just the right amount of glow without being over the top. Its a really flattering tone that can be built up to give a subtle shimmer without looking at all brash and without a hint of glitter.

Heliopolis is a neutral shade of brown that is also flattering to most skin tones. It gives a fully matte finish. Like the highlighting powder it can also be built up or used wet to give a variety of looks. Although it does have a bronze tone to it doesn't have the rusty orange tones or muddy tones that alot of contour products have.

Illamasqua - Sculpting powder duo - contouring - wet and dry - contour kit - highlighter - matte bronzer - swatch - review
Both the powders are extremely pigmented so although it doesn't look like you get that much in the pan,. you only need the slightest bit of product on your brush to make create a beautiful look suited to your own needs.

Illamasqua say:

Sculpt your party look with this compact contouring palette. Containing neutral matt Heliopolis for razor-sharp definition, and shimmering champagne Lumos to highlight and illuminate, the Sculpting Powder Duo creates double the impact.

This formulation can provide up to four to five variations of the same shade depending on how lightly or intensely it is applied. Use wet for a bolder colour pay-off, and it can also double up as an eye shadow. Apply using Blusher Brush 1 for colour on the centre of the cheeks, or using the new Blush Up Brush for more definition and contouring.

The formulas of both are ever so soft and almost buttery to the touch. Both of shades are easy to blend and once applied lasts for roughly 6-7 hours.
I love that I have both products together it makes a it perfect for touch ups on the go. The packaging isn't at all bulky which also makes it easy to take with you on your travels.

Illamasqua - Sculpting powder duo - contouring - wet and dry - contour kit - highlighter - matte bronzer - swatch - review
The shades used together are perfect for defining your features and creating a natural shadowed look. At £26.00 it's not the cheapest of products but it is without doubt one of my all time favourite products.

Have you tried this duo? What do you think of Illamasqua products? Which would you recommend? Have you tried contouring? Which products do you use? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below!

Make up Revolution - Acid Brights palette

Makeup Revolution - Acid Brights - Eyeshadow palette - review - swatches - Urban decay Electric dupeMake up Revolution are a new bargain highstreet brand which you can now get in Superdrug or from their own website. The new company have made a massive impact in the beauty world with stunning quality and value for money make up products.

I couldn't resist trying there amazing Acid Brights palette which is an amazing dupe for the newly launched Urban Decay Electric palette. Yet this palette is only £4.00 compared to Urban Decay's £38.00. This is a real bargain but on trend product.

The packaging is pretty basic made of black and clear plastic with a big window showing you the strips of eyeshadows. It also comes with obligatory foam applicator which I don't recommend using as they don't give the same even finish which you can get with a brush.

Although not an exact dupe for the Urban Decay palette they definitely have the same feel. With both having focus on bright almost neon shades. Not for the faint hearted but alot of fun for any beauty fan to play around with.

The urban decay palette has 10 shades and although this palette is missing a red shade which the Urban Decay palette has. It does come with an extra two shades and is a lot more friendly on the wallet.

Make up Revolution say: THE ultimate
palettes with ultra high payoff.
A perfect mix of pearl, shimmer and matte shades. Totally collectable and a pure sellout.

Let have a closer look at the shades on offer -

Makeup Revolution - Acid Brights - Eyeshadow palette - review - swatches - Urban decay Electric dupe

Bright Pink - This is a blue based deep pink with an ever so slight pearl shimmer

White - A matte white. The least pigmented on the palette taking 4 swipes to get any sort of colour payoff.

Neon Yellow - A light matte neon yellow, Just like the white takes many swipes to get any sort of colour.

Neon Orange - A Bright neon Orange with a matte finish. Quite pigmented on even the first swipe.

Blue - A shimmery highly pigmented pure blue.

Light Blue - A metallic blue with strong silver shimmer.

Makeup Revolution - Acid Brights - Eyeshadow palette - review - swatches - Urban decay Electric dupe

Neon Purple - A really pigmented neon purple, with a matte finish.

Green - A pearly khaki green with strong yellow tones.

Neon Pink - A fairly pigmented bright matte Barbie pink.

Neon Green - A bright lime matte green, with good colour payoff.

Silver - A pigmented light silver with a strong gunmetal shimmer.

Black - A matte black takes a 3 to 4 swipes to get a black finish. More of a dark smoked grey.

Most colours need a good few swipes to give their full colour. Yet this palette is much more pigmented than other bargain palettes. The mattes were quite chalky which you can see in some of the swatches. the shades are really unique and really on trend for the current season. There was also a bit of fallout but for £4.00 I can't really complain. With an eye primer the colours, stay vivid all day and last well into the night.

Overall I really enjoyed this palette and the possibility of looks is endless. Although not the best eyeshadow palette defiantly one of the better bargain brands. I look forward to see what Makeup Revolution offer us in the future.

Have you tried Make up Revolution? Which of their products would you recommend? Would you be brave enough to wear these shades? Which shades do you like the look of? Let me know your thoughts by commenting below.

Salad zinger Review and Giveaway

I love spicing up a salad with a dressing however I didn't realise how unhealthy and calorie packed most premade dressings are. However I find plain salads  quite bland. So when I was asked to review the saladzinger*, I jumped at the chance. If you haven't heard of the salad zinger its a amazing invention that lets you create any dressings you want. The only limit to your creations, is your imagination.

Illamasqua cream Blusher in Promise

Blusher - cream blush - warm candy pink - illamasqua - dewy finish - longlasting blusher - pink blusher- swatch - review

Described as a warm candy pink with a dewy finish. The colour looks like a bright rose pink in the pan but isn't at all as bright when applied. The colour is really buildable so you can make the shade work for you by applying more for a brighter look. If you want a really warm shade this isn't for you. As candy pinks go it is quite warm but like most candy pinks has a blue undertone.

The formula appears quite oily in the pan and like its almost sweating. However this doesn't transfer when applied although the formula is quite oily in itself it looks more like a dewy glow when applied. The oily consistency makes the formula almost melt into your skin while blending making it look extremely pretty and natural without feeling greasy.

Blusher - cream blush - warm candy pink - illamasqua - dewy finish - longlasting blusher - pink blusher- swatch - review

If your not a fan of the dewy look and want a bit less shine then a light dusting with powder really helps. I personally love the freshness of the finish and think its the perfect finish and shade for the summer months.

Illamasqua say:
Tease, hypnotise, use to effect. Use Cream Blusher to highlight your cheekbones, shape your face, build and blend with fingers or a brush to create the colour intensity you desire. Use over foundation for impact, or under for a captivating glow. However you apply it, be daring.

Blusher - cream blush - warm candy pink - illamasqua - dewy finish - longlasting blusher - pink blusher- swatch - review

The blush stayed put for eight hours without becoming patchy or uneven like a lot of cream blushes. Also there wasn't any sign of slipping even when worn on an extremely warm day. I love this blush and without a doubt will be buying more shades from the range. One of my favourite things is the wearability of the shade and how versatile the blusher is. from a subtle glow to bright cheeks you can achieve what ever look you want to suit your skin and occasion.

Have you tried cream blushes? What ones do you like best? Have you tried any Illamasqua blushes? Which shade shall I try next?

Guide to foundations - BB and CC creams

BB cream - CC cream - what they do - whats better - comparison - how to - tutorials - guide

This week in my guide to foundations we look at the differences in BB cream and CC creams. What they stand for and what they offer and what they wont do.

BB Cream = Beauty Balm Cream
Some brand's refer to them as blemish balms but whatever the BB stands for the main thing they have in common is that they are all  multi-functional. They are most similar to a tinted moisturizer but with added bonuses removing the need for multiple products.

Most BB creams functions are
- Provide moisturization.
- Offer ever so slight coverage.
- provide some form of SPF protection.
- prime the face for further makeup application

Allegedly made by dermatologists for patients that had under gone laser surgery a lot of BB creams also offer extra soothing and skin healing ingredients. They feel creamy and moisturizing to the skin

They encompass the properties of
- serum
- moisturiser
- primer
- foundation
- sun cream

What it will do?
I personally wouldn't skip moisturizing or popping on the serum however. BB cream is perfect for days when you don't want the heaviness of foundation or for occasions where foundation isn't really appropriate such as days at the beach. It will conceal slight redness and even out your complexion. It wont offer much coverage though so concealer is needed for anything more than very minor blemishes.

What it wont do?
Cover anything more than minor blemishes or slight dark circles. There is also a distinct lack of shades available so can be hard to match up to your skin tone. Also be sure to check the SPF as many only offer ever so slight protection which isn't enough in sunny climates.

CC Cream = Colour Correction Cream
Some brands refer to it as Complexion Corrector's. These are also multi-functional products that feel lighter on the skin than a BB cream but most offer more coverage. the aim of these creams is to target specific complexion issues such as redness and dull skin.

Most CC creams functions are
- To correct skin complexion colour issues
- Offer light coverage
- Provide some SPF protection
- Provide the skin with vitamins C and E
- Illuminate skins complexion.

Made to compete with the BB cream, offering more coverage for those who need it. Can even cover spots, age spots or slight skin discoloration. Is very lightweight and fast absorbing.

They encompass the properties of
- Moisturiser
- Colour correcting products
- Primer
- Sun cream
- Foundation

What it will do?
Again I wouldn't skip on the moisturiser. Although the added vitamins are a big plus to the formula. CC cream is much more suited to people that need extra coverage such as people with acne or with skin discoloration such as age spots. It will even out your complexion and add radiance to dull skin.

What it wont do?
Like BB cream be sure to check the actual SPF in the product as it may not offer enough protection needed in sunny climates or for the summer months. Will offer light to medium coverage but wont compare to a full coverage foundation. So concealer will be needed for added coverage.

Will you be switching up your foundation for a BB or CC cream this summer? Which BB creams have you tried and loved? Have you tried a CC cream yet? let me know your thoughts by commenting below!

Mac Maleficent - True Loves Kiss Lipstick

Mac - lipstick - limited edition - maleficent - true loves kiss - red lipstick - review - swatch

This is the latest offering in Mac's Limited Edition collections. I was eagerly awaiting this collection but unfortunately wasn't completely blown away with the shades on offer. So I only got myself the Lipstick called True Loves Kiss as I can never resist a new red lipstick.

Mac appeared to have managed to capture the essence of sexy evil with this lipstick! Its a bold but seductive Classic Red. Described as clean bright red with an amplified finish. It has a neutral undertone bordering on the warmer side with a slight metallic ruby shimmer throughout.

Like a lot of beauty lovers I'm slightly disappointed with the packaging they could have really gone all out with packaging rather than just adding the maleficent logo.

It feels really smooth and creamy on the lips and I love the almost wet look finish. Its intensely pigmented and a true classic red. It is not fully opaque in one swipe but you can achieve a fully opaque finish with an extra layer. I think the finish really brings an extra dimension the shade.

Mac - lipstick - limited edition - maleficent - true loves kiss - red lipstick - review - swatch
The formula applies like a dream without any tugging or pulling at the lips. I was really impressed with the lasting power, it lasted for a good 4 hours and considering the glossiness of the formula I thought it would disappear much quicker. The formula is not as moisturising as it looks but I didn't find it drying either.  I think if it were more moisturising it would have the tendency to slip and not be as long wearing.

Overall the shade itself is gorgeous but its the finish that makes the lipstick for me. The finish adds that extra captivating devilish flare that Angelina Jolie's Maleficent without a doubt possesses.

Did you get anything from the collection? Will you be watching Maleficent? What do you think of this shade? Which red lipstick do you love?
