Beauty Crowd Wishlist #1

Lately I have been lurking quite a lot on the Beauty Crowd, waiting for payday. If you haven't heard of the Beauty Crowd it's a newly launched online shopping site. With a big focus on community they love hearing what we want to try. So not only a place to indulge in a splurge it's also a fab way to hear what others think of the products available.

So here is my wishlist of the top ten products I have had my eye on.

Wishlist - Beauty Crowd - Make up - beauty - hair products - hair brush - nail polish - fake tan - tanning products - mascara - Candle - liquid lipstick - face powders - popbands - Airmotion Brush - Nicka K nail colour - For all my eternity Self tan - LA Girl - Glazed Lip paint - Fairy Drops scandal Queen - Milani - Illuminating face powder

Popbands - Blondie £8.00
In the warmer weather my long hair often annoys me when I wear it down. So in the day I like to put it up but get hate the dents I get in my hair as I have to redo my hair before I go out in the evening. So these would be a god send and the shades in this set are the perfect colours for summer.

AirMotion - Hair Brush £11.95
With the constant bleaching and colouring my hair goes through I'm always looking for ways I can reduce damage to it. So this gentle hair brush is perfect for my hair, meaning I can detangle my hair without any tugging and snapping of my already damaged hair.

Nicka K Nail Colour - Cadet Blue £4.95
I love wearing bright shades and this bright light blue really caught my eye. This shade will look super pretty with this seasons pastels and will really pop with a tan.

For All My Eternity - Self Tan and Tone Lotion £24.99
This award winning tan made it into Cosmos top ten tanning and toning tans. As a major tan addict, this would obviously be on my list! Loaded with moisturisers this tan promises to tone your skin as well as giving you a golden tan.

For All My Eternity - Self Tan Back Applicator £12.99
I am constantly tanning, so I'm often pestering Dave or my mum to tan my back for me. This would mean I can easily tan on my own without having a pasty back or doing myself a mischief!! This would make life for any tanner easier.

Fairy Drops Scandal Queen - Waterproof Mascara £18.50
I have heard such amazing reviews of this mascara. The brush is also similar to my all time favourite mascara Too Faced Better than Sex! So I'm desperate to give this a shot. The fact it's waterproof makes it perfect for the spring summer as my eyes often water in the sun.

Nicka K Nail Colour - Raspberry £4.95
Just like with the blue shade I love the bright but light tone of this purple shade. There are so many of the range I would love to try but this is at the top of my list as I love the way purple looks with my silver hair.

Kiss Air Candles - Sun Kissed Raspberry £8.50
I love candles and I adore the sound of this summery scent. The cute looking tin will look pretty on my dresser. With a burning time of 25 - 30 hours this is a real bargain as well.

LA Girl USA Cosmetics Glazed Lip Paint - Whisper £4.00
I recently tried lip paints and loved how super pigmented they are. I've seen pictures of these on instagram and I'd love to try them especially the shade whisper. I often wear a nude lip as it's so easy to wear and looks stunning with brighter eye colours.

Milani Iluminating Face Powder - Beauty's Touch £8.00
When I first saw this I knew I wanted to give it a try. A sucker for a pretty design, you don't get much prettier than this. With its beautiful rose design I'd pick the shade Beauty's touch as the rosy colour is perfect for the summer.

Have you tried any of these products? What beauty bits have you got your eye on? Have you checked out the Beauty Crowd yet?

Vivant SkinCare Giveaway!

Vivant Skincare - Green tea cleanser - cleanser - facial skincare - skincare - Giveaway

A long time ago now, I was introduced to the American skincare brand Vivant skincare a well established pharmaceutical skincare brand focusing on helping those with resistant skin conditions such as acne and aged skin.

The brand is widely used by dermatologist, skincare experts and in spas. Yet Vivant isn't widely known in the UK. They really deserve a lot more recognition over here as their products are fabulous and widely recommended in the States. Even loved by the likes of Cosmopolitan, Allure and teen vogue magazines. Their products have even won skincare awards!

I am a massive fan of their Green tea cleanser and although I luckily don't have acne it really does help keep my skin clear and looking at its best. Since first trying it a few years ago it has become a staple in my skincare regime. You can check out my full review here! Unfortunately you can't easily get these products in the UK yet, so to give you all a chance to try a bit of Vivant magic, we have teamed up to giveaway 5 full size bottles of my favourite Green tea Cleanser.

Green smokey eyes with Yves Rocher

Yves Rocher - Mascara - Volume Vertige - eyeshadow - palette - green - fixing eyelid primer - smokey eye - Kajal - eyelook - green eyeshadow - review - how to - eye make up look - black mascara - black eyeliner - black kajal - evening look - occasion look - prom make up

When going on a night out, most of us have a few looks we rely on. For me it's without doubt a  golden smokey eye and a nude lip, or a bold lip and a cat flick eye! Yet instead of reaching for your usual palette of choice you can update your look instantly by simply changing the hue.

I was sent a few goodies from Baobella lately and received this gorgeous green eyeshadow palette*! Green isn't really a colour I usually use, I think it can be quite an intimidating shade! Yet darker greens can be a great alternative to the usual browns and blacks.

The kajal pencil* is the purest black perfect for an evening look, it blends ever so easily. It can be used in a variety of ways which I love! I'm usually a liquid line addict yet this has really converted me. I can pop this in my bag and know I'm all set no matter what look I'm after.

I have tried an Yves Rocher Mascara before which you can see here and I love the Volume Vertige* just as much as the previous one I tried. The wand gives amazing lift and gives you volume and length without leaving you with spider lashes.

So here is how I created a green smokey eye ....

Yves Rocher - Mascara - Volume Vertige - eyeshadow - palette - green - fixing eyelid primer - smokey eye - Kajal - eyelook - green eyeshadow - review - how to - eye make up look - black mascara - black eyeliner - black kajal - evening look - occasion look - prom make up

-To start off I used the fixing eyelid primer*, it gives your eyelid an even tone and helps your eye makeup last the whole night without moving or fading!

- I then used the medium green to coat the eye lid, taking it up to the socket. I  took the shade under the eye all the way to the duct.

- I next applied the darkest green to the outer corner of the eye and took the colour midway under the eye.

- After this I vigorously blended the lighter green towards the bulb of the brow.

- Taking the silver shade I highlighted the inner duct of the eye.

- Then I really focused on blending all the shades together.

- With the kajal crayon I lined both the water line as well as thinly applying a line around the edge of the eye.

- Lastly I pop on a few lashings of the patented Yves Rocher mascara.

To really give your eyes a real glamourous look pop on some lashes! I absolutely love this look and think it would be perfect for a night out or for a event where you want a real glamorous show stopping look. It's a beautiful way to give a twist to a classic smokey eye!  I'm definitely going to be more adventurous with my eye shadows in the future.

What do you think of this look? Would you wear a smokey green eye? Do you wear green eye shadow? Have you tried a Kajal pencil? What Yves Rocher products do you love? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Miley Cyrus Viva Glam Range

Viva Glam - MAC Lipstick - MAC Lipglass - Miley Cyrus - Pink Lipstick - pink lipgloss - swatches - review - products on - comparison

A while ago now Mac released it's latest viva glam collaboration with the queen of controversy herself Miley Cyrus. The Viva Glam Range raises funds and awareness for those suffering and affected by HIV. Now I'm a bit of a lipstick hoarder so a lipstick that helps to raise money for charity is a perfect way for me to have a guilt free splurge. Especially when its for such a deserving cause. I've had both the lipglass and lipstick in my collection for a little while now but as the summer approaches I know I'm going to be wearing these shades more and more.

Firstly I'm so glad they aren't red! Don't get me wrong I love a red lip but so many of the latest MAC collaborations have featured different variations of red. Yes, I'm looking at you riri! So when MAC announced they where releasing a viva glam range with Miley ( an avid red lip stick wearer) I did a big sigh, but that was until I saw the pictures before the release!

The lipstick is a bright medium pink with slight cool blue undertones as well as a strong shimmer. MAC describe it as a Hot pink with an amplified finish. I love how bold it is yet still really wearable, The subtle cool undertones mean it suits a variety of skin tones and helps make your teeth look whiter.

It glides on the lips with ease and gives an opaque look in one swipe' its amplified finish is really hydrating, yet doesn't wear off within five minutes like a lot of hydrating lipstick. It lasted around 5 hours before fading to a softer pink stain.

The lipglass is described as a hot pink with a sparkling pearl finish. In the tube it looks a lot brighter than it appears on the lips. It gives a slightly sheer finish with a reddish pink tint to the lips. It has a lot of glitter particles  in both light pink and light blue. Which is not surpising considering Miley stated she wanted the lipglass to look like a pink glitterball. So if you're not a fan of glittery lips this wont be for you.

However this is the ultimate girly lipgloss shade. It's fun and glitzy without being too in your face. It is a bit tacky but not uncomfortable on the lips and sits on the lips without settling into any fine lines. It does last quite well for a lipgloss and lasted a good 3 hours, without drying out the lips and left a trace of glitter on the lips for the rest of the day.

When paired together you get the glamour of the lipstick and the fun of the lipglass. Giving a really pink princess lip with some added punch!

One of my fave things about the two shades is there is something for everyone, Whether you like a bold feisty looking pink or a girly sweet subtle pink shade, there is one for you or for the ultimate in pink lips combine the two! If you are thinking of getting either make sure you're quick as they are only available for a limited time. You can get them both here.

Which look do you like best? Have you purchased any of the two products? What is your all time fave pink lippie? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below!

OOTD - Blanket cape and Fedora

OOTD - Outfit - Spring/ Summer - outfit inspiration - Blanket Cape - Fedora - Nude tones - Ankle boots - tan boots - vest - white vest - waxed jeans - Nude jeans - Zara - River Island - H&M - outfit of the day

Fedora - River Island
Striped Blanket Cape - River Island
Top - H&M
Trousers - Zara
Boots - River Island

This time of year can be a real nightmare fashion wise, the sun is shining but it is still quite cold. So I'm constantly on the lookout for something warm to wear but in lighter spring like shades.

I spotted this cape on the River Island website in the sale and thought it was the perfect wrap for the unpredictable temperatures, plus the pink and brown tones go perfectly with a lot of items already in my wardrobe. This also includes this fab fedora I got a few weeks back, which I also got from River Island.

I'm a real hat fan and fell in love with the purple blush colour instantly. The hat is a soft felt with a dark brown leather band with a golden buckle. I think this makes it look much more expensive than it is, as well as complementing the shades on the cape.

I paired the hat and cape with this white vest top from H&M, which is plain as I didn't want to over power the cape,or add to many colours. A light and cool vest is perfect to pop under the cape, if you do find the weather warming up. you can slip out of the cape and enjoy the sun!

To keep in with nude tones I wore these waxed nude coloured jeans from Zara, which make a nice change from my normal blue toned jeans. To finish the look I wore my trusty tan ankle boots also from River Island that I got a good few years ago.

As you can probably tell I have been loving River Island lately. They have some amazing pieces that are not only on trend but look like they could be designer items. What do you wear in the unpredictable weather? What looks have you been loving lately? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

rub a dub dub give those brushes a scrub!

How to wash your make up brushes - wash make up brushes - Washing brushes - cleaning make up brushes - cleaning brushes - baby shampoo - how to clean your brushes - at home - DIY - Beauty Basics - Spring cleaning your make up - clean your brushes

Nobody enjoys cleaning and washing your brushes is a chore that nobody wants to do. Do you put off washing your brushes till your make up brushes could grow their own legs? Or are you a ditcher? Throwing away your older brushes when they get clogged up rather than giving them a scrub. Well no more! Washing your brushes can be much easier and cheaper than you think.

All you need is some baby shampoo and your sink! Although there are plenty of products available to help wash your brushes with  sprays, cleaning mitts and shampoos, these aren't necessary to achieve clean tools. Between washes I do use a cleaning spray but nothing beats a good deep clean.

What you need
  • Your dirty brushes (obviously)
  • A bowl preferably not a deep one.
  • Baby Shampoo
  • Your sink
  • A tea towel.

How I do it

  • It's easiest to wash your brushes in the bathroom or kitchen as you need running water. I prefer to wash my brushes in the bathroom.
  • Firstly rinse the bristles of your brushes under the tap,to help loosen the old makeup and dirt.
  • Fill up your bowl with warm water and add a couple of squirts of baby shampoo.
  • Swirl your bristles into the soapy water, Be careful to keep the ferrule (metal part between the handle and bristles) out of the water! As this can loosen the glue, ruining your brushes.
  • Gently rub your brush against your palm to help remove all the dirt and get a bit of a lather
  • Rinse brush.
  • If water still isn't clear repeat the washing process, until it does.
  • Then lay your brushes on a tea towel to dry off.

Your Done!!!!
Once your brushes are dry they are ready for you to use!

Why its so important
Washing your brushes increases the life of your brushes and clean brushes will give a better finish of make up. With continued use brushes not only get blocked up with makeup, they also pick up dirt, oil and bacteria, so your brushes soon become a haven for bacteria. So regular washing of your brushes will help keep spots at bay!

Its recommended that you wash your brushes every week. Although I am guilty of putting it off!! So if you are like me and think this seems a bit like too much work,.there are a lot of spray cleaners available cheaply online to use in between your deep cleans.

What do you use to wash your brushes? How often do you give your brushes a deep clean? Do you use any cleaners inbetween your washes? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below!

Lots of Love,
Laura x
