Panasonic IPL Hair Removal System

I'm not ashamed to admit I'm rather hairy! I can shave my legs and the next day they feel like sandpaper. I've tried waxing and that didn't make much difference. I would b shaving again after a few days. So when I was asked to try Panasonics new IPL hair removal system*, I was rather sceptical as to whether it would make much of a difference.

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, it works by emitting wavelengths into the skin that targets the pigment in the hair, hence why it's less effective on lighter hair colours. When the light is absorbed by the hair it turns into heat inhibiting growth. So with repeated use you will be left with long lasting smooth skin.

The IPL comes with a charger so once fully charged, it's completely cordless, making use so much easier, no getting yourself tangled up in wires.  It's pearlescent white and sleek looking. The lid that covers the light panel is a gorgeous purple shade. It is a really stylish looking gadget. It's easy to grip and although lightweight it doesn't feel at all flimsy.

I was also a bit apprehensive giving it a go the first time as I once tried a friends one years ago when IPL's were brand new and even on the lowest setting it hurt!! I felt like I'd been stung by a bee. So I was really surprised that I didn't experience any pain using it. Your skin gets warm and it's more of an annoying feeling than painful. The feeling is more intense as the intensity levels increase yet even then I wouldn't say it's unbearable more uncomfortable but my goodness the results were worth it!

So what makes the ES- WH80 different from others?
With it's easy grip, ergonomic design and lightweight body the Panasonic IPL hair removal system makes it easy to treat even hard to reach areas. It's larger 5.4cm flash window increases the area covered with each flash. With 600 flashes per charge, you can take the system with you and not have to worry about running out of charge. The 5 different intensity levels means you can work up to a setting that's right for you.

I found using it incredible easy as well. First you shave the area you want to start the treatment on. Once skin is dry apply the IPL at a right angle on the skin. The light will flash then you slide the IPL along to the next area! It couldn't be simpler. I have been using this once a week and have only gone up to level 2 although I have tried out the highest setting to get an idea of the intensity.

After the first few weeks I started to notice my leg hair was much more patchy. Some parts were almost hairless. The hair grows back sparser and feels much finer to touch. A month or so in and I had gone from shaving every other day to once a week! I am definitely going to continue using this and hopefully the results will continue to amaze.

The system cost around the £300 mark and although expensive it's one of the less expensive IPL at home systems. Panasonic is also renowned for its high quality products and it's a market leader in technology so you know you're getting your moneys worth. This system can't be used on the face but can be used on the legs, arms, underarms and bikini line. So if you consider how much getting waxed etc costs or laser hair removal it isn't that expensive.

I'm so impressed with this and can't wait to see how it works on other areas. I would really recommend this to anyone looking for more permanent hair removal without any fuss. Have you tried a IPL? What methods do you use to defuzz? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Lots of Love,
Laura x
