My Jolie Candle Giveaway

Scientific research has found women are predisposed to like candles. It makes sense prehistoric woman would see the flames as a source of warmth and security keeping the dark and beasts away. So it's really not our fault especially when you pop the gorgeous array of scents now available into the equation.  Not one to disappoint scientists lol I'm a massive candle lover!

I personally adore creamy and sweet scents. Although to be honest it really depends on the room but I'm normally drawn to vanilla or food scents. I knew as soon as I saw the caramel macaron scent* on the My Jolie website it would be just up my alley! I wasn't wrong the scent is beautifully rich yet with a hint of sweetness. You don't even have to light the candle for the scent to lightly fill the room so  with a burn time of 35 hours you  get to experience the delicious fragrance for ages

Each candle comes in a sweet little box adorned with little cartoon pictures of the scent. which is also featured on the label.  It's a really lovely touch and gives the glass jar a hint of colour. If the gorgeous scents and packaging isn't enough the candle also contains a unique handmade piece of jewellery. You can take a look at the full collection on their website My Jolie Candle.

My Jolie Candle, a delectable scented candle with handmade jewellery hidden in each candle is - worth melting for.
◆ Every scented candle contains silver jewellery made with Swarovski Elements
◆ An exclusive collection of 100 varieties of jewellery
◆ A chance to receive a candle containing jewellery made of gold and diamond(s) worth £200, £1000 or £5000.

Which adds a really sense of excitement as you wait for the tinfoil to be revealed and get to peep at your hidden gem. especially since you have a chance to bag yourself a piece of jewellery worth up to £5000!!! unfortunately for me I didn't find a diamond. However I did find this cute little silver bracelet with its sweet little cloud like charm and pink Swarovski crystal. It's really charming and unique piece that looks ever so delicate and elegant when on your wrist.

These candles would make a lovely gift for a loved one with scents for all tastes. Or if your a candle lover a piece of jewellery is an extra special treat for yourself! And luckily for you the lovely people at My Jolie candle  have given  a lovely orange blossom candle for me to give away! In perfect time to give for Mother's day! Simply enter below and Good Luck.

High Street Essentials

I don't know about you but sometimes it can be slightly overwhelming to decide what bits and pieces to try out. So I thought in todays post I would let you know some of my fave products from the high street. These are things that I love and you should definitely pick up next time your browsing your local Boots or Superdrug.

Highstreet - Make up - skincare - eylure - nadine eyelashes - Garnier - soothing toner - fit me concealer - maybelline - st moriz - fake tan - collection - felt tip liner - review

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer £5.59

I have spoken about this so many times but it is without doubt one of the best concealers on the high street. If you have dark circles then this is a must. It gives amazing coverage without being cakey and doesn't settle into any fine lines.

Introducing our first gel concealer made with no waxes or fillers. It conceals without feeling heavy or looking cakey, skin appears brighter and awakened. It instantly conceals to help reduce appearance of skin imperfections. Coverage the way it was meant to be… even, natural and breathable.

Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing Toner £3.25

The name says it all this is simply an essential for anyone's skincare routine. I've friends of all different skin types who have become obsessed with this. I 'm smitten with how fresh and plump my skin feels after use, especially as a lot of toners leave my skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. This has made such a difference to my skin. This is one item that doesn't ever get swapped.

Garnier Simply Essentials Soothing toner combines soothing water lily extract and Pro-vitamin B5 in a gentle formula which provides an intense fresh sensation on the skin. Enhanced with plant extract and Pro-vitamin B5, this toner refreshes and cleanses impurities. With no perfume, colourants or alcohol, it is suitable for sensitive skin.

Collection Extreme 24hour Felt Tip Liner £2.99

This has been my trusty go to liner for longer than I can remember. Its perfect for getting the cat eye flick within minutes. Unlike other high street liners it doesn't dry out after a couple of uses. One of reasons I love this so much is the black is jet black not a wishy washy grey like shade and once applied it doesn't budge.

Be bold, bright and beautiful! These fast-drying versatile felt tip pens give your make-up look an instant burst of colour. Easy-to-apply felt tip nib for all day wear.

Eylure Nadine Eyelashes £5.49

If you are looking for false lashes you can't go wrong with Eylure. Their lashes are always amazing quality and look fantastic. My all time favourites are the Nadine eyelashes, I nearly always have a spare box in my drawers for days and for nights out. They really are perfect for both, long enough to give you the false lash effect without looking too over the top. Give these a try for a layered fluttery look.

"My lashes are full and layered with a natural feel. I could wear this fun, flirty style everyday!". Nadine's lashes are a plus, layered style with finely sculpted tips for a cool, offset look. Eylure lashes are designed to enhance the natural beauty of your eyes. Fabulous, flirty and flexible they are suitable for all eye shapes and all occasions. Ultra lightweight feel.

St Moriz Tan £4.99

When it comes to budget tans St Moriz is King. I have always been a massive fan of the mousse tan in medium. At the moment I'm trying out the liquid version which I'm also really enjoying. If your new to tanning then grab the mousse as its super easy to apply and give you a natural golden glow. without patches and streaks. If you have drier skin then pick up the lotion.

St Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mousse, has been specially developed with ingredients which help to create an instant bronzing effect, providing you with a perfect, all over, professional tan.
For girls who prefer a lotion application that develops into a fabulous golden tan and leaves you with a feel good glow, this award winning product is for you.
A unique blend of beautifully fragranced active tanning agents work their magic, leaving you looking subtly bronzed and ready for anything.

Charlotte Tilbury - Filmstar bronze and glow

Charlotte Tilbury - Filmstar bronze and glow - contour palette - review - swatch - make up - contouring

This has been on my wishlist since I first laid eyes on it. Contouring isn't everyone's cup of tea but I can't get enough of chiselled cheekbones and glistening highlight. Dave treated me to this for my birthday, think my not so subtle hints must have sunk in! I'm ever so grateful as I have ooooed and ahhed about splashing out £49.00 on this.

Housed in a sleek  art deco style golden compact, it screams luxury just like all of Charlotte Tilbury's products. Even the healthy sized mirror features a little star on it. It is everything you expect from high-end packaging and more.

Charlotte Tilbury - Filmstar bronze and glow - contour palette - review - swatch - make up - contouring

Filmstar Bronze - Its a dusty medium brown shade with slightly warm undertones and a satin finish.

Filmstar Glow - A light subtle beige champagne shade with a golden sheen to it.

The highlight is probably one of the most natural highlighters around, it has a really subtle finish, that doesn't emphasise pores or cling to drier patches. Both powders are really finely milled and super easy to blend. The bronzer is slightly warm it isn't orange and definitely doesn't come across as muddy. Again its easy to work with and of really high quality, perfect for day to day use'as the ashy tones of most contour palettes can look really harsh in natural light. Unlike a lot of other palettes both shades are as good as each other.

Charlotte Tilbury - Filmstar bronze and glow - contour palette - review - swatch - make up - contouring

So is this little palette worth the price tag? In some ways yes yes yes, but also as beautiful as it is' it is a lot to splash out on and there are some fabulous palettes available that are a lot cheaper. So its a lovely treat but there is no need to worry too much if it's not in your collection. I'm not surprised by its highly raved about status but if your a massive contouring fan then you will probably already have something really similar, just maybe not of the same extremely high quality.

That all being said I have been using this ALOT since I got it and If I received another one as a gift once this runs out I'd be a very happy girly. If you do fancy splashing out you can get the palette from Selfridges here.

Have you tried this palette or any other Charlotte Tilbury products? What products do you use to contour and highlight? Do you think this is worth the hefty price tag?. Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Lots of Love,

Escentual skincare wishlist

I'm becoming more and more into skincare, especially as I have noticed such an improvement in my skin. I definitely think this is down to really stepping up my skincare and keeping to my routine. So while having a nose on one of my fave beauty sites Escentual. I had a good look at their skincare products. These are the some of the products that have now been added to my wishlist.

Darphin Dark Circles Relief and De-puffing Eye Serum smoothes and refreshes tired, puffy eyes. Its calming and soothing formula with Peptides, and extracts of Passionflower, Rose and Licorice absorbs quickly to leave the eye area feeling silky smooth and looking like you've had a full night's sleep!
Results
-Reduced puffiness and dark circles
- Softer and brighter eye contour

I have inherited dark circles from my dad so I'm always looking for ways to help improve the look of them. The fact I'm nearly always looking at a screen and having late nights doesn't help my eyes, which are really sensitive. So waking up with big dark puffy eyes is nothing new. If this could help then I'll be buying it in by the ship load.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Cream Fortifying & Soothing 24Hr Hydrating Care  £18.00

Fortify your dehydrated skin with the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Cream Fortifying & Soothing 24Hr Hydrating Care Pot Rich. Presented in a luxurious glass pot, the intensive moisturiser restores the balance of dry, sensitised skin.
The innovative cream contains Activ Hyaluronine™, a combination of hyaluronic acid and lipidure that is proven to infuse lasting moisture. This ingredient is micro-encapsulated and delivered as part of a continuous system of hydration. The cream strengthens the natural protective function of the skin and soothes discomfort.
The creamy texture of the Aqualia Thermal Cream is rich in Vichy Thermal Water, which instantly cools irritation and tightness. The lotion instantly melts into the skin without greasiness or stickiness, and skin is replenished with water.

When asking for skincare recommendations on a recent blogger chat, this came up again and again. I've tried a few Vichy products and they worked a treat, so I have really high hopes for this. The reviews speak for themselves, that's why this is at the top of the list.

Unveil a complexion that looks refreshed and rehydrated with the La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Serum, a replenishing, concentrated gel for dehydrated and sensitive skin
The moisturising facial serum is enriched with a highly concentrated blend of La Roche-Posay’s Thermal Spring Water, known for its soothing and anti-irritating properties , plus hyaluronic acid fragments to immediately infuse the skin with deep hydration.
Fast-absorbing and non-greasy, the melt-in gel texture will reduce skin tightness, smooth dehydration lines and provide intense, long-lasting 24hour hydration to ensure that skin is healthy and glowing.

I have only recently got into serums and I'm amazed at how much of a difference they make. They really do help your moisturiser get deeper into the skin. I'm on the market for a new serum as mine is getting low and this sounds fantastic.

Enhance the natural beauty of your lips with the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil, a non-sticky lip care treatment that will leave lips feeling nourished and soothed.
The Lip Comfort Oil derives from three plant extracts and will enwrap lips in a silky-sheen without the greasy after-feel. Infused with Mirabelle oil, the treatment helps to prevent dehydration and will leave the lips feeling supple and satiny-smooth.

I constantly struggle with my dry chapped lips. I find a product that works fabulously then my lips seem to become immune to it. So I'm always trying to keep one step ahead of my lips and switch up my lipcare. I have heard so many good things about this oil, I definitely need to give this a go.

Avene Gentle Toner £11.50

Complete your cleansing routine with the Avène Gentle Toner, an alcohol-free formulation that removes every last trace of cleanser.
The protective toner has been specifically developed for the needs of sensitive, dry, and very dry skin, and does not irritate or dry out the complexion. The Avène Thermal Spring Water-rich composition is enriched in natural silicates, which work to protect the skin against external aggression without altering the skin’s natural hydrolipidic film.

I'm a massive fan of Avene they create some terrific products. If you haven't checked them out I really recommend you do. Especially if you have sensitive skin as their products are really gentle yet hardworking. The protecting properties of this toner are one of the things that sell this to me.

Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Hydrating Boost Night Mask £22.00

Give your skin the boost of moisture it needs with the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Hydrating Boost Night Mask, an intensely quenching formula.
The combination of moisturising, brightening and retexturising ingredients will work to leave skin feeling soothed, smoothed and hydrated. Working with your skin’s natural cycle, the Hydration Boost Night Mask will instantly soothe parched skin before sleep when your skin is primed to absorb the maximum benefits of your skincare.
After cleansing and toning smooth the mask evenly over the skin. Leave on the skin for 5-10 minutes and rinse or tissue off.

I use a facemask religiously every week. It gives my skin a real boost and is a big part of my pamper routine. I love laying back and relaxing while the masks work their magic. I haven't heard of this before but it sounds like it would be just up my street.

What skincare products are you loving at the moment? Which products do I need to add to my list? Have you tried any of the products on my wishlist? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Becca - Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation

foundation - dewy finish - dewy foundation - becca cosmetics - Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation - review - make up

With glowing skin set to be the in thing this year, we all be searching for our go to product to get the look. As soon as I saw Becca had released aqua luminous perfecting foundation. I couldn't wait to get my hands on it, serum style foundations are one of my go to types of foundation. So I asked my friend Lynn to pick it up on her trip to New York.

It comes housed in a chic looking glass bottle with a dropper style dispenser. the really fancy part is the cap. to fill the dropper you twist the cap a button in the middle then pops up. then to dispense the foundation you push down the button. Snazzy Eh? Due to its really liquidly consistency you really need to give it a good shake first.

foundation - dewy finish - dewy foundation - becca cosmetics - Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation - review - make up

If your looking for coverage then this might be one you want to skip. Yet if you want to give your skin a natural looking dewy finish this is going to be right up your street. Coverage wise I'd say the coverage is on par with a BB cream. It wont cover up imperfections but will even out your skin tone. However paired with a good concealer this is perfect and it isn't that much of an issue unless your having a breakout. It's super lightweight and gives a skinlike finish so you can even build up to give yourself an extra bit of coverage, without worrying about looking at all cakey.

On to the finish, this is dewy with a capital D. Even with my slightly drier skin I still give my t-zone a little dusting of powder ,just to set it in place and its so dewy there is a danger of looking slightly on the bad side of shiny. We all want a glowing natural looking complexion but nobody wants to look greasy. If you have oily skin you could still use this but I'd recommend pairing it with a really good primer.

foundation - dewy finish - dewy foundation - becca cosmetics - Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation - review - make up

Veil your skin with foundation coverage that feels water-light, while it evens and perfects the complexion. Each weightless fluid drop imparts subtle luminosity that blurs imperfections and creates a soft focused glow. In a range of 8 flexible shades with light, buildable coverage Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation imparts a healthy, natural glow that flatters all skintones.

The eight shades are said to adapt to your skintone. I asked Lynn to get me the shade beige as I love glowing foundations most in the summer months when I'm usually a bit more tanned. So the fact it oxidises slightly isn't that much of an issue for me. Plus I'm a slight fake tan addict, but its definitely something to bare in mind. You may be better picking a shade down.

This is without doubt a really beautiful foundation, I adore the finish and will be my go to for that dewy skin finish. Even though I have tried serum style foundations before its unlike any other I've tried, its super comfortable on the skin and even with its dewy finish it lasts all day. I don't know about you but I'm loving the glowing look.

Are you tempted by this foundation? what products do you use to get a glowing look? Have you tried any Becca products? What shall I get next from Becca?

Lots of love,
Laura x

Get valentines stiletto nails at home!

Valentines day - nail art - nail design - stiletto nails - at home - how to - tutorial - false nails - elegant touch

I love playing around with my nails and coming up with different designs. So with it being valentines this weekend, I thought why not have some fun and knock up some themed nail art. My natural nails are quite short and I have a small nail bed so not the best for nail art. So when the mood takes me I pop on some fake nails from the high street. I find I can get a much more professional looking finish as I can paint them beforehand, getting rid of the age old dilemma of one hand looking much better than the other.

The nails I used today are Elegant touch stiletto shaped, in the shade totally bare, perfect for getting creative. It can sometimes be hard for girls with smaller nail beds to get stick on nails. However this set which contains 48 nails is great as it has a lot of smaller sized nails.

Valentines day - nail art - nail design - stiletto nails - at home - how to - tutorial - false nails - elegant touch

To create the look

Match up the nails provided in the set to your own. You can use the file provided to file down any nails to give a perfect fit.

On the two index fingers nails paint a sparkly silver shade. I used  a shade from H&M called "Jo is in the house". Give them as many coats as it takes to get an opaque finish.

Paint the remaining nails in a light whitish pink, giving them two coats. I used Lancôme Vernis in Love nail colour in the shade 301m.

Once dry create two heart shapes on the ring finger nails in white. To do this, paint two dots next to each other and drag the nail varnish down to meet at a point using a thin nail brush or a tooth pick.

When the white had dried, use the same technique but with smaller dots inside the white heart using the sparkly silver shade.

On the thumb nails, place a line of crystals along the bottom of the nail. To do this I pop some of the glue provided in the set, on to a bit of card. Using tweezers dab the back of the crystals into the glue then place on the nail.

On the little fingers and middle finger nails you can create another line of crystals or like me just pop one right at the bottom in the middle to tie the whole look together.

Give all the nails a lick of top coat. When they are dry get sticking your salon style nails to your own for a irresistible valentines look.

Have you created any valentines nail art looks? Do you get your nails done at a salon? Do you change your design choice depending on the season or holiday? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

If you recreate this nail look I would love to see them or your own valentines nail designs!

Lots of Love,

All black with a pop of nude - OOTD

Black and nude outfit - Outfit of the day - OOTD - Fashion - chelsea boots - ankle boots - blazer - jacket

Blazer - Primark (similar)
Cami - Primark (similar)
Leggings - River Island (similar)
Chelsea Boots - New Look

I bought the jacket a good few years ago now in Primark, even though I own more than enough blazers I was drawn to the casual rolled up sleeve style. Plus the peachy nude shade makes a nice change from the darker shades of my other jackets. It also makes a softer contrast shade than white against black, which is a constant throughout my wardrobe, so I instantly picked this up when putting together this outfit.

Black and nude outfit - Outfit of the day - OOTD - Fashion - chelsea boots - ankle boots - blazer - jacket

The floaty thin strapped blouse is a real bargain at only £4.00 in Primark and looks much more expensive. I teamed this with my faithful tight riding style leggings from River Island. To finish off the look I popped on these little Chelsea boots from New Look, which are smart but still really comfortable.

Black and nude outfit - Outfit of the day - OOTD - Fashion - chelsea boots - ankle boots - blazer - jacket

The nude shade adds a softness to the all black outfit. I love how it adds a slight lift to the whole outfit while still looking quite muted. Nudes and softer hues are a big trend this spring, so the jacket will be getting a lot more wear in the up and coming months. To dress up the outfit I'd swap the longer necklace for a statement necklace and grab some simple black heels.

What do you think of my outfit? Will you be wearing nude tones this spring/summer? Do you own any Chelsea boots? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

My current clip in hair extensions

Irresistible me - Hair extensions - Clip in extensions - human hair extensions - silver hair - before and after - remy hair - review

Although I have loved having my silver hair one of the things I miss most is my clip in extensions. I love how easy they are to use and can transform my look within seconds. I've still got some of my old sets but they have seen better days and I didn't think they would be worth dying. Getting a new set has been on my to do list for a while but I haven't managed to get round to it. So when the amazing people at Irresistible me hair extensions asked if I'd like to try one of their sets I was super excited.

Irresistible me - Hair extensions - Clip in extensions - human hair extensions - silver hair - before and after - remy hair - review

As I was going to have to tone the extensions to get them to match my colour, I needed to make sure that I picked the best hair possible. So getting hair with the cuticles laying in the same direct (Remy hair) was a must. With that in mind I picked the premium line Royal Remy extensions*.

Royal Remy is our premium line of clip-in hair extensions. We use top of the line hair and a special treatment unique to Irresistible Me to add extra silkiness and durability and make these the best hair extensions you can find.

The thickness of the hair is amazing – it’s the same from the top to the bottom of the weft which will provide a lot of body and bounce while wearing them.
This line is very easy to blend with your own hair and can be very easily styled, cut, coloured and curled.
Ultimately, the Royal Remy hair will last longer and is the closest match you can find to completely unprocessed hair. If you’re looking for longevity and volume, the Royal Remy line is the best choice you could make.

Irresistible me - Hair extensions - Clip in extensions - human hair extensions - silver hair - before and after - remy hair - review

I picked the lightest shade possible which is Platinum blonde (#613) so it will be easier to achieve my grey tones without damaging the hair. As I have a lot of hair I picked the most hair which is 200g. I was expecting there to be a lot more shedding when I toned the extensions but I was amazed at how little hair fell out, which just shows how well the extensions are made.

In the 200g set you get 10 pieces- 1 pc of 4 clips (7.5"), 2 pcs of 3 clips (6"), 5 pcs of 2 clips (4"), 2 pcs of 1 clip (1.2") so you can mix and match the pieces to get the right amount of volume and body for you and each look you create.

Me with my Irresistible me hair extensions in.

When you receive your extensions you receive one clip wrapped separately, which is a really fabulous idea so you can have a look at the quality, texture as well as match up the colour to your own hair. This makes the whole prospect of buying extensions online a lot easier as you don't have to open the whole pack, if they don't meet your needs and can send them back hassle free. What more could you want.

I'm loving my new extensions and think they are a real bargain considering the amount and quality of the hair. I have been really enjoy wearing them and love how they look straightened or curled. I've had these a few months now and they still look brand new. So if you are in the market for some new extensions I really recommend you check out Irresistible Me hair extensions.

5 Must Have Foundations for Dry Skin

Must have - foundations - dry skin - mature skin - dewy foundation - medium coverage - full coverage - review - makeup - maybelline - fit me foundation - bourjois - heatlhy mix serum - dior - nude air serum - givenchy - teint couture balm - loreal - lumi magique - review

Finding a good foundation can be a nightmare, not only do you have the minefield of finding the right shade. You also have to battle through all the amazing claims the brands make to find a formula to match your skin type. After spending a small fortune on different formulations and brands, these are the five I would recommend for those of us with normal/drier skin types. These are the foundations I find myself reaching for more than any others.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation £7.99

This was one of the first gel foundations on the High Street.,which is one of the reasons I was drawn to it. I tried it when it first launched a good few years ago and have pretty much always had one in my collection since. Lots of  brand's have launched Gel foundations in the mean time but this is still the best in my eyes. Without doubt one of my all time faves, I have rambled about it many times on here and to anyone that will listen. If you have dry skin just try it!

Our first Gel Foundation with no waxes and fillers. Coverage that looks and feels 100% you. The secret of Fit Me Foundation? Some waxes and fillers can mask your skin colour, Fit Me Foundation has none. Its transluscent gel based formula merges seamlessly with your skin.

Dior Nude Air Serum Foundation £33.00

On the pricier side but without doubt one of the best foundations I have ever used. It's like velvet on your skin, it glides on the skin to create an airbrushed finish that can be built up easily to a fuller coverage when needed. Even though it's moisturising it still lasts all day with a youthful dewy finish. It's a must have for drier skins. A little goes a long way as well so although expensive, a bottle does last a long time.  You can check out my full review here.

Dior’s Diorskin Nude Air is a weightless, ultra-fluid foundation serum that creates a nude makeup look. Formulated with SPF 25, it offers sun protection and the fresh-faced beauty of a natural-looking glow. Infused with Oxygen Activ™ technology, an innovative blend of a hyper-oxygenated oil, cranberry oil, vitamin, and minerals, this serum’s high-precision dropper deposits an undetectable film of makeup onto the skin, while its soft-focus agents and glazed pigments instantly produce an even-looking complexion that achieves the right amount of coverage for a radiant, sheer finish.

Loreal Lumi Magique Foundation £10.99

I only discovered this last year but I love the radiant glow it gives the skin. Definitely one for more mature or drier skin types. It really does lift the complexion and gives medium coverage that can easily be built up. Perfect for days your skin is looking slightly dull and needs a little boost. It covers up your flaws but doesn't cling to any dry patches of skin.

The first liquid light foundation that offers a perfectly natural complexion, infused by light for a healthy-looking glow like never before! With age skin can become dull and tired. Lumi Magique helps give instant skin radiance. You will be glowing inside and out.
Light texture, lets skin breathe with 24 hours of hydration. With SPF 18 and 12HR magic hold.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation £10.99

A great day to day foundation that add a real radiance to the skin with out looking greasy or shimmery. It's medium coverage and extremely buildable. Without doubt one of the best the High Street has to offer. It gives a skinlike cake free finish whilst still offering you coverage.

Give your skin a radiance boost with Bourjois’ Healthy Mix Serum Gel foundation – made from a vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula for an even complexion and an instant anti-fatigue result!
Its fresh and instant blending gel texture blends and glides onto the skin for an even, natural finish with no mask effect. Imperfections are erased, signs of fatigue are smoothed and the skin’s radiance is boosted for up to 16 hours*.
Made from an instant anti-fatigue vitamin-rich fruit therapy formula with litchi, goji berries and pomegranates.

Givenchy Teint Couture Balm £30.00

This is brilliant stuff, another pricier one but don't let that put you off. A hybrid of a primer, BB cream and foundation, it blurs the skin but doesn't mask it. Created to give a bare skin finish, this is almost like you have swapped your dry skin for a moisturised flawless complexion. It's a one of a kind product that is in a league of its own. It's a beautiful formula and really lasts, while giving you a soft dewy finish.

Teint Couture Balm leaves your skin with a lightweight veil of coverage. Its antioxidant complex of vitamin E and jasmine flower work together to protect and revitalize the skin. Infused with a light-reflecting diamond powder, this foundation corrects blemishes and gives your complexion a natural-looking radiance.

These are the five foundations I use more than any others and will without doubt repurchase them when I run out. I really hope you found this post helpful and found some new foundations to try. If you have combo dehydrated skin I recommend checking out this post from Emily at British Beauty Addict for her top picks.

Have you tried any of my faves? Which foundation would you recommend for dry skin? Will you be trying any of my top picks? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Kat von D - Shade and light contour palette

Kat Von D - Shade and light - contour palette - review - make up - Swatches - pressed powder - highlight - contouring

Kat Von D first found global fame in the TV show Miami Ink then L.A Ink with her striking tattoo designs and her amazing talent for portraits. When it came to creating her own make up range Kat Von D drew from her artistic back ground. which in turn has resulted in some absolutely amazing products adored by make up artists the world over.

So when my lovely friend Lynn went on an amazing Birthday trip to New York recently and offered to pick me up some bits. I knew I wanted to try one of Kat Von D's most popular products the Shade and Light contour palette.  This is currently a real struggle to get here in the UK, although there are rumours that Kat Von D's make up will soon be available in Boots stores. Luckily for me Lynn managed to pick one up for me

Unlike traditional bronzing powders, the Shade + Light Contour Palette is loaded with a unique selection of matte shades that capture the true hues of shadow and light. The three contour shades create realistic shadows to recede facial features, while the three highlight shades impart a soft luminosity to amplify dimension.  These silky, buildable powders blend effortlessly into the skin for a flawless, fade-proof finish that flatters every skin tone or face shape.

The palette is cased in a sleek black cardboard package with a magnet fastening. With Shade and Light written in black and silver across the front in an edgy font. Although cardboard the packaging is sturdy and doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. The style of the palette screams Kat!

In the Palette is a full size mirror which is fabulous. You get 6 shades in total all of which are matte. Three of the shades are highlights and the other three contouring hues. You also get a guide which shows you how to contour your face, which is really handy even if you have been contouring and highlighting for months. And a must read for beginners.

The Shades included are :

I absolutely love the range of shades in the palette, at first I was a bit nervous about highlighting with matte shades. I'm used to at least some shimmer, I thought I might look a bit flat. However this wasn't an issue at all. The shades are so finely milled and blendable that you are left without feeling like you are wearing a mask. The formula is slightly powdery but it's really easy to work with and so buildable. I can't fault it.

I use a mix of both the peach and yellow shades to set my under eye area, both of which are amazing and Lucid to highlight the high points on my face. I have been using Sombre to create shadows on my face and Shadowplay to add depth and slim the outer areas of my face. Subconscious is a bit dark for me at the moment but I'm sure I will get more use in the summer, or when I want to create a more drastic contour.

This is without doubt one of my all time fave contour products and if you can this is worth adding to your collection. What do you use to contour? Which shade do you think you would get the most use of? Are there any Kat Von D products you really want to own? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Like this ... then try that - MAC lipsticks

There is nothing we all love more than a bargain, especially when it comes to make up. I am a massive MAC fan and have a real weakness for their lipsticks. Yet this obsession is without doubt an expensive one. So in the Second instalment of Like this ... then try that, I'm delving into world of Mac lipsticks. I have found lots of brilliant dupes and similar shades, that will be a lot kinder to your bank balance.

Like MAC Brave ... Then try Nyx Matte Lipstick in Whipped Caviar £6.50
The shade is an exact dupe however the MAC version is in a satin rather than matte finish. If you don't mind a more matte version then get ordering Whipped Caviar.

Like MAC Cosmo ... Then try Rimmel Kate Moss in Rossetto 08 £5.49
If you love the soft coco hue with a hint of pink then you need to try this out. Both are like a slightly lighter version of the really popular Twig. Rimmel's version is less than half price so well worth a swatch.

Like MAC Rebel ... Then try Makeup Revolution in Rebel with a Cause £1.00
Although Rebel with a cause looks much more reddy brown in the picture, have a look at a swatches online and you will see its much more of a burgundy plum shade just like Macs Rebel. Its not as opaque but for one pound, having to do a few more swipes to get the same look isn't the end of the world.

Like MAC Please Me ... Then try Rimmel Kate Moss in the Shade Celeb 028 £5.49
Rimmel and Kate Moss have done it again and created another dupe of one of the most popular MAC shades. Anyone would struggle to see any difference between this two muted pink shades.

Like MAC Crème Cup ... Then try ELF Mineral Lipstick in Runway Pink
In love with the light blue toned pink of Crème cup? Then head over to ELF and get your hands on Runway Pink this moisturising mineral lipstick is a perfect match, at less than half the price of the original.

I really hope you enjoyed this instalment of like this... then try that. Which products would you like me to feature or find a similar product to in the next post? Do you have any amazing dupes for MAC lipsticks? Have you tried any of the lipsticks mentioned? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.
