You may know a few weeks ago now I was at the UK Blog Awards ceremony after making it to the final ten in the Best Fashion and Beauty Blog category. I was over the moon at being nominated as well as making it to the final ten and of course wanted to get a new dress with all the trimmings to wear on the night.

When it comes to going to an event be it a wedding or any big occasion, you always feel more special in a brand new outfit. This, however ,can get really expensive, especially if you have a few events a year! Like most of us I don't have lots of money to spare and am saving for a house ,so I wanted to keep the cost down. All that being said I still wanted to look and feel glam. So I was on a mission to find an outfit that wouldn't break the bank yet would make me feel fab.

I decided I wanted a navy dress to complement my slivery hair and Dave has a navy suit so I knew we wouldn't clash. After trawling through nearly every site online I just couldn't find what I was after especially not at in the lower price range. Most the dresses were either extremely low cut (which isn't really appropriate, not really the occasion to have your girls flapping about) or backless (not ideal if you need to wear a bra to avoid the risk poking someone's eye out with cold nips.) All the others had cut out pieces in them (not ideal if your not particularly toned lol I didn't fancy a roll hanging out of my dress) or were more for bridesmaids than an awards evening.

I was nearly at the point of tearing my hair out when I'd been to all my local shopping centres and looked online more times than I could count. Then after the millionth search I found The Dress!! From Vestry, I actually used to shop there quite a lot when they had a store in Bluewater. I have quite a few pieces from there, so I knew the quality would be good. For only £45 total Bargain, not too over the top but still dressy, It was just what I was looking for.

Once I had found the dress, I was on the hunt for some shoes. I came across these on ASOS for £26.00 and thought they would be perfect. I love nude shoes and knew I could team them with lots of the outfits I already owned. WIN!

Next I needed a bag, I'm particularly fussy when I'm pairing shoes with a bag. If they are the same colour they need to be the same shade, or I'd rather a different colour, such as silver or gold. LOL Told you I was fussy. Its just a personal preference I think it makes an outfit look more put together. I looked everywhere for a creamy nude bag to match the shoes but all where slightly off colour wise. Then I found this beige nude Clutch bag on Amazon. It was slightly dubious about buying a bag from there but I thought I can always send it back if its not right. It had really good reviews and at only £10.89 it was worth a shot. When it arrived I was blown away, not only was it a perfect match colour wise, it was really good quality and big enough to fit all my essentials in. I'm definitely going to search amazon for accessories more often.

I wanted to add some jewellery but nothing too big or flashy, so when browsing on the local high street. I popped in to Warren James, a discount jewellery store, which is my go to place for studs etc as I'm always loosing them. My dad spotted the set and I loved them instantly dainty with a hint of sparkle. They would look really pretty with my favourite diamonte bracelet, that my mum bought me for my 18th.

After what seemed like a nightmare at the beginning I was so happy with the outfit and how it all looked when teamed together. On the night I received lots of compliments on my outfit and I felt fantastic in it. Although I didn't come away with anything, I had an amazing night and spent most of it with the gorgeous Simone from Eltoria who was a worthy double winner. I'm so proud to have made it to the finals and want to thank you all for all your love and support.

What do you think of my outfit? Do you think I did a good job on a budget? Which is your favourite piece? What would you have worn? Let me know all your thoughts by commenting below.

Lots of Love,
Laura x
